In unfortunate news, veteran politician Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away on 10 October, Monday. He was the founder of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. At the time of his passing, he was 82.
Yadav was admitted to the Medanta hospital in Gurugram and was in the Intensive Care Unit for a long time. His condition was critical, and he was on life-saving drugs for several days at the hospital.
On Monday, the present Samajwadi Party Chief and son of the former supremo, Akhilesh Yadav, confirmed the news of his father’s death. Through the Twitter handle of the Samajwadi Party, he said, “My loving and respected father and the leader of everyone is no more.”
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, also condoles the death of the former leader. Calling him a “key soldier for democracy,” he posted:
Mulayam Singh Yadav was born on 22 November 1939. He was fondly known as “Netaji” by the supporters of SP. He had been hospitalized since last week.
